[最新]美国留学申请季来袭:美国大学陆续公布补充文书!

当美国大学毕业季的先后结束，新一轮的美国留学申请也逐渐拉开序幕，日前，美国高校(包含耶鲁大学、芝加哥大学和乔治亚理工学院、波士顿学院等8所高校)陆续公布2018年美国大学补充文书题目。这些与普通申请文书相配套的补充文书题目的问世，便宣告了新一季2018年美国留学申请即将开始。

什么是美国留学申请的补充文书?

众所周知，美国留学申请过程中需要提交各项申请材料，其中PS、essay、CV等申请文书必不可少。而有一部分美国大学会要求申请者在普通申请文书的基础上，再附加一篇、两篇、三篇甚至更多不同长度的补充文书题目，话题是学校给出。比如从“写一封信给你未来的室友”到“如果你要在耶鲁大学教一门课，那么会是什么?”

而对于一些不适用通用申请系统Common   Application的美国大学，他们在申请文书上会有自己的系统要求和文书要求，比如麻省理工学院、、乔治城大学、加州理工学院等》》》【汇总】美国大学申请中Common App的使用方法。

2018年美国留学申请补充文书题目汇总

目前，已经公布的8所美国大学补充题目分别为耶鲁大学的文书补充题目、芝加哥大学的文书补充题目、普林斯顿大学、密歇根大学、宾夕法尼亚大学、约翰霍普金斯大学、波士顿学院、乔治城大学的申请文书补充题目。

1.普林斯顿大学的补充文书题目

Activities: Please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular   activities or work experiences that was particularly meaningful to you.   (Response required in about 150 words.)

Summers: Please tell us how you have spent the last two summers (or vacations   between school years), including any jobs you have held. (Response required in   about 150 words.)

Engineering Essay*

If you are interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering   degree, please write a 300-500 word essay describing why you are interested in   studying engineering, any experiences in or exposure to engineering you have had   and how you think the programs in engineering offered at Princeton suit your   particular interests. *This essay is required for students who indicate Bachelor   of Science in Engineering as a possible degree of study on their   application.

2.耶鲁大学的补充文书题目

“Yale is all about community. The "college system" is an integral part of the   Yale experience and one that sets Yale apart from many of the other Ivy League   schools. Because of this, Yale is asking several questions about what   prospective applicants would add to the community.

So, in your answer, you need to address what role you would play in your   "college" and in the overall community. In my suite of 6 girls my freshman year   at Yale, we had students from all over the world — Russia, China, Brazil — and   girls with totally different interests — poetry, sports, cooking (one girl   cooked entire meals just with a portable stove top), and engineering. So when   Yale asks you these questions, you need to be detailed and creative, and you   need to show them that you would make an awesome addition to your residential   college. I'd also like to point out that Yale is adding two residential colleges   this year!”

“招生官会认真地读你的每一个答案，包括只有35字的简答题。当然他们会更加注意你是如何回答“你申请耶鲁的原因是什么”这个问题。最符合招生官期待的答案一定是能够阐明耶鲁和其他学校的区别的。招生官不会被一个能够适用于任何美国大学的问题回答而打动。

对于申请工程或计算机科学专业的学生来说，选答文书非常重要。这不仅是你向招生官展示你对该专业领域的热情和兴趣的机会，同时你也需要利用选答文书阐明自己已经清晰理解成为一名工程师或者电脑科学家意味这什么、你对这个行业已经了解了什么。

3.芝加哥大学的补充文书题目

补充文书题目：芝加哥大学要求从话题里面选择写一篇“扩展”文书，以及两篇论文(一篇是要求的，一篇是选择性的)。

题目选项(部分)：

Essay Option 3: Earth. Fire. Wind. Water. Heart! Captain Planet supposes that   the world is made up of these five elements. We’re familiar with the   previously-noted set and with actual elements like hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon,   but select and explain another small group of things (say, under five) that you   believe compose our world.

Essay Option 5: Fans of the movie Sharknado say that they enjoy it because   “it’s so bad, it’s good.” Certain automobile owners prefer classic cars because   they “have more character.” And recently, vinyl record sales have skyrocketed   because it is perceived that they have a warmer, fuller sound. Discuss something   that you love not in spite of but rather due to its quirks or imperfections.

(400-650 words) *For students   applying to the coordinated dual-degree programs, please answer this question in   regards to your single-degree school choice. Interest in coordinated dual-degree   programs will be addressed through those program-specific essays.

6.约翰霍普金斯大学的补充文书题目

Successful students at Johns Hopkins make the biggest impact by collaborating   with others, including peers, mentors, and professors. Talk about a time, in or   outside the classroom, when you worked with others and what you learned from the   experience. (Up to 400 words).

7.波士顿学院的补充文书题目

四选一 (400 word limit)

1. Human beings have a creative side that tends to shine most when we are   truly invested in the world around us. Describe a situation when you responded   effectively to a particular need and found yourself at your creative best.

2. Experience teaches us the importance of being reflective when making major   decisions. Share an example from a recent event when a leader or an average   person faced a difficult choice. What were the consequences of the decision?   Would you have done the same?

3. Boston College strives to provide an undergraduate learning experience   emphasizing the liberal arts, quality teaching, personal formation, and   engagement of critical issues. If you had the opportunity to create your own   college course, what enduring question or contemporary problem would you address   and why?

4. Jesuit education stresses the importance of the liberal arts and sciences,   character formation, commitment to the common good, and living a meaningful   life. How do you think your personal goals and academic interests will help you   grow both intellectually and personally during college?

8.乔治城大学的补充文书题目

乔治城大学要求的补充essay比较多，包括1篇Short Essay+2篇Brief Essays，题目分别如下：

Short Essay: Briefly discuss the significance to you of the school or summer   activity in which you have been most involved. (approximately one-half page)
